A couple in South Dakota are selling a candle over the internet that smells like Jesus.
I could probably leave this post at that one sentence and it would say everything I could say about this subject, except while looking at the website, I was curious about statements such as:
"Buy the original candle here! Beware of imitations!" and
"The fragrance of His EssenceTM is a patent-pending formula"
The candle is made of myrrh, aloe and cassia because of a reference to those three fragrances appears in a psalm in the Old Testament referring, according to the people at His EssenceTM , to the second coming of the Messiah. Thus by blending the three carefully into a candle, you get a the scent of Christ for your kitchen or study.
I wondered why they would be so keen to point out their ownership of this blend of fragrances if they were simply combining these three herbs - how could someone patent aromatherapy, especially if it's Divine aromatherapy?
Then I found The Miracle Candle, at scentofjesus.com.
To be completely fair, no matter how I feel about the original candle, it was an entrepreneurial idea by what I'm sure in a nice couple in the Dakota country, and they offer a detailed explanation of why they created the candle from the particular passage without completely saying this is Jesus's scent, the way I do in the sarcastic first sentence of this post.
The Miracle Candle people, however, take the cake:
"[the fragrance is] calming and peaceful with a scent uncommon to modern times.
This is the Scent of Jesus."
The salepeople are called Miracle Workers. And you are assaulted by Enya as soon as you enter the site. (Did she give permission for this?)
Neither of these companies are probably aware that candles are evil because demons are addicted to wax. (Scroll to the bottom - apparently candles are bad but Mary Kay cosmetics are okay.)
So, to be on the safe side, I'm personally sticking to the Jesus sports statues.
I appreciate it that you took the time and trouble to bring this concept to our attention. However, would it not have been better if you had first sampled the product in question so your report could have described the scent of Jesus? That's rather basic information, don't you think?

Yes, but... did you read that last link!!!??? I disposed of my candles through freecycling last week. Let someone else's home be a conduit for demons!!!!
Also, I'd have to actually pay for a candle, and I don't think I can convince the His Essence people to send me a free one based on that write-up.
However, if anyone wants to volunteer, we'll be happy to accept a review. Um... an aromatherapy review.
